Frequently Asked Questions

See below for a list of the most asked questions about our custom cabinetry.

Yes, we design and manufacture our own cabinets in Ottawa using locally sourced materials.

Yes, but only if it is part of an overall cabinet package that we are supplying the customer with, we do not supply & install countertops on existing cabinetry.

As a first step in the quoting process, we ask that people give us the rough measurements of the space they want the cabinetry and some details so that we can provide them with budgetary pricing for the project. After the client reviews the budgetary pricing they can decide to book an appointment to come into the showroom and go over their project with one of our designers.  At this point the client can then decide if they want to move forward with the design / quoting process and an appointment to measure at their house can be made.

We only make and install cabinetry but we can recommend general contractors that we work with that can take care of all the elements of a kitchen renovation (Flooring, electrical, drywall etc..)

We make custom cabinetry that can be used like furniture in some applications but we do not make traditional table and chairs.

We have a choice of standard colors that you can pick from but we can also color match any color from the major paint manufacturers.

Yes, we have our own install team and a small group of trusted subcontractors that help us professionally install our cabinetry.

Typically the ETA of a cabinet package from time of design signoff and deposit is 12-14 weeks. This time frame can change due the material and hardware chosen for the project and its availability.

A fully custom cabinet package will be designed from the ground up with every cabinet sized, built and material chosen to fit your space and application perfectly. A modular cabinetry package is designed using predesigned / prebuilt cabinets that placed to fit into the space and application.

There is a 25-year limited warranty on House of Fine Carpentry Cabinetry.

We can make fireplace mantles as part of a larger cabinet package.

See below for a list of the most asked questions about our trim.

We do not offer any painting services.

Yes, primed MDF trim is now preferred because it gives you a better painted finish then finger jointed pine.

We can caulk and fill the trim that is installed but it is more cost effective to get the painter to do that task. The painter is responsible for the final surface prep before paint.

The installation of our trim is far superior then most other companies, our installers are professional and have the experience to provide a fantastic finish product. We also have the knowledge and background to take on more complex projects.

No, stairs and railings are a sperate speciality and there are companies that only focus on this that service the market.

See below for a list of the most asked questions about our PVC Columns.

All of our PVC columns come in white but they can be painted.

It is not recommended to paint your PVC column a color with a Light Reflective Value (LRV) less then 55 (example: Black has an LRV of 0, White has a LRV of 100). This is because low LRV colors absorb too much of the heat from the sun and could cause damage to the PVC.

We recommend Sherwin Williams Exterior Super Paint and choosing a color from their Vinyl Safe Color Palette.

No, PVC columns are made to wrap around existing structural posts.

PVC columns only come in square varieties but we do offer round Fibreglass columns.

Yes, if you are comfortable with carpentry related tasks and have the required tools (Mitre saw, drill, air nailer and level).
